    Guide

    How it works

    1. Choose a type

Select what the page describes – for example your company on the home page, a product on the product page or a recipe on the recipe page.

    2. Fill in the details

Google needs at least the fields marked with an asterisk; “recommended” increases the chance of a rich snippet. “Example” shows you what it can look like.

    3. Mind the check

On the right you see instantly what is still missing or wrong – such as an incomplete URL or an end date before the start.

    4. Implement and test

Copy the code and insert it into the page. Then check with Google’s Rich Results Test whether Google recognizes the data.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

    What is structured data?

Additional information in the HTML that tells search engines exactly what it is about: that a number is a price, a date is the start of an event or a text is an ingredient. Google uses it for enhanced search results – with stars, prices, dates or images.

    Why JSON-LD?

JSON-LD is the format recommended by Google: the data sits in its own script block and does not have to be woven into the visible HTML code. That is clear and easy to maintain.

Am I guaranteed to get a rich snippet?

No. Structured data makes rich snippets possible, but Google decides itself whether to show them. It is important that the information is complete and matches exactly what is visible on the page.

    May I simply enter ratings?

Only genuine ratings that are also visible on the page. Made-up or hidden ratings violate Google’s guidelines and can lead to a manual action.

Can I use several types on one page?

Yes. Common, for example, is Organization or WebSite on the home page plus BreadcrumbList on all subpages. Simply insert several script blocks – one per type.

    Is my data stored?

No. The code is created in your browser; nothing is sent to the server.
