Hostname & provider
For this information my server sends your IP address to a third party – that is why it only happens on click: the hostname is queried at Cloudflare (DNS over HTTPS), the network and provider at the responsible Internet registry (e.g. RIPE NCC).

Guide
How it works
- Read your IP address
At the top you see your public IP address – the address your router or mobile provider uses on the Internet. “Copy” puts it on the clipboard, e.g. for a firewall rule or support.
- IPv4 or IPv6
The tool shows the address your browser used to open this page. Many connections have both; your browser decides which version is used.
- Learn more
With “Look up hostname” and “Show network & provider” you see the name of your address and the provider it belongs to. Your IP is sent to Cloudflare or the Internet registry for this – that is why it only happens on click.
- Check browser details
On the right you see what every website learns about your browser without asking – language, time zone, screen and more. Handy for checking VPN or privacy settings.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is an IP address?
The number under which your connection can be reached on the Internet – comparable to a postal address. Websites need it to send you their response. In a home network, all devices usually share your router’s public address.
Why does my IP address change?
Most providers assign addresses dynamically: after restarting the router, every 24 hours or when switching to the mobile network you often get a new one. Static IP addresses are usually only available for an extra charge.
Can someone find me via my IP address?
Roughly: the address reveals the provider and usually the region, but not your home address. Only your provider knows that – and only discloses it in very limited cases, e.g. to law enforcement.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 addresses consist of four numbers (e.g. 93.184.216.34) and are scarce. IPv6 is the successor with much longer addresses (e.g. 2a00:1450:4001::200e) and a practically unlimited number of them.
Why does the tool show a different address than my router?
Internally your router often shows a private address (192.168.… or 10.…). With carrier-grade NAT (100.64.…) you even share the public address with other customers. With a VPN or proxy you see the address of the VPN server here.
Does the site store my IP address?
Not for this tool. As with every page request, it ends up in the server log files (see privacy policy) and briefly as an irreversible hash in the rate limiting.
